Palo Alto Chief Johnson retires weeks after firestorm on racial profiling remarks
After drawing accusations of racial profiling for her remarks about questioning black men in connection with a string of armed robberies, Palo Alto Police Chief Lynne Johnson announced Thursday afternoon that she is retiring after almost 34 years of service.

Santa Clara County home sales spiked 24 percent in October compared with the same month last year. Property records examined by the Mercury news show that many of Jing “Jerry” Wu’s personal investments were underwater when he was fired from his job at SiPort on Nov. 14 and, police say, fatally turned a gun on three executives at the Santa Clara company.
